Had to do it. Had to spend a lazy afternoon doing the j-yard shuffle looking for one small part. For some reason over the course of this summer, the windshield washer jets atop the hood have been leaking, causing a trail of dried water streaks to form on the hood surface just behind the jets. A curious symptom considering that I rarely use the washer system during the summer. If anything, I'd have guessed the hose and jets would be drained of all water. So, I reasoned some sort of check valve along the water feeder hose was in order. Armed with no tools, I ventured through the hallowed j-yard to find such an item. Along the way I bumped into one of the fellows from SPG9 on a personal scouting and parts procurement run. I must have looked at every car in the place and found not one check valve of any kind in that size. I did the search route in a way so that I'd finish just before the pay windows. And there on the very last car, a Mazda of some unknown model, was a pair of what to my eyes looked like check valves. Eureka! That's exactly what they were. The way they function is to allow water to flow in just one direction and only while under pressure. I have no idea if that was a stock item on the Mazda, or is an aftermarket device. I ended up hooking up just one on my car just before the Y. Works perfectly. No more droozle! Love the J-yard shuffle!
