Hey everyone
I bought a Johansson Motorsport fiberglass airflow replica kit at SOC 02 from John at Saabsavior. Very close to the real thing. Once they're painted, I doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference from the original airflow kit. Plus the JMS version was 1/3 the price of the original, so I opted to save some cash.
My plans for right now, clean, sand, bondo some inperfections, sand, prime, and then have it painted. The bumpers, along with the SPG panels, will be painted Talladega Red to match to body. Red on red, mmm.
I've called a bunch of body shops in my area, and they all tell me the same thing. The bumper must be mounted before it gets painted. Makes perfect sense. So you don't mess up the expensive paint job trying to mount it.
Has anyone installed a JMS, Erebuni, or any other fiberglass bumper on their car?
Question is... how do you mount this?!? The underside of the bumper is completely smooth. No brackets, no rails, nothing. No place to mount brackets or rails either. No screws can be put into the thin/fragile fiberglass. Not sure how this will stay put. How do I get the bumper on, and keep it on?!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'd call JMS, but they're in Sweden, so that would make conversation quite tough. Not to mention they're on Sweden's government's 'black list', and don't answer their phones either.
I'm going to give John @ Saabsavior a call soon to see what his thoughts are too.
Thanks so much!
Taylor
