Starting getting harder.

My 1990 900t is having starting difficulties- it seems worse when very hot outside. The car will seem to start, only to die right away. It'll take 4 times or more of this before she'll run. Alternatively, if I step on the accelerator, the car will start (though the idle will drop way down before running well.) After about 20 seconds of running, engine seems fine. Also, seems to be worse when staring with say AC/blower on. Any thoughts appreciated.
