Forget the sticky 3M backing, it just comes off in a week or so. Go to a hobby story and get some good epoxy(kind you have to mix). Now here is the trick. Applying a small bead to the dash prior to putting the inlay down is the trick. At the hoddy store there will be small plastic syringes that are used for putting down glue. They have real small tips that are ideal for the narrow sections of the dash. So remove the backing covering. Leave the sticky 3M stuff on the inlay. Apply the epoxy sparingly. Do it quick as you only have a minute or so before it starts to set. Now here is the real neat part. No matter how good you are some piece of the inlay will not adhere all the way. Wait a week and you can use another syringe and just pry the inlay up a little bit and re-epoxy. Remember too little is OK as you can always re-epoxy at a later date. I had to press on the dash for about 15 minutes to get a good stick. You will see what pieces pop out as the dash isn't always perfectly level.
