the new "saab" 9-3

i was reading the latest issue of "road and track" magazine and naturally i was interested to read more about the new 9-3. what the article contained floored me. Saab Cars has no plans to make a coupe 9-3, and will completely do away with the hatchback concept. have we entered a sort of twilight zone, another dimension, perhaps? how can the spiritual successor to the 99 and the classic 900 not come with two doors, let alone with-out a hatch? how can saab dispose of a such an integral design feature such as the hatchback, one that was good enough to have a
twenty-four year run on the classic 900? i am stunned! and no coupe? i can look the other way when taking into account that the new 9-3 is a mirror image of its larger sibling. i can possibly muster the strength to admire the car at a distance, even though the styling could be considered bland and incospicuous. but what i will not forgive is the fact that this car will no longer be a direct descendent of our beloved classic 900. they may say it is, but it cannot be. and if saab is planning an entry level coupe/hatch, then i will reconsider my opinion then. but for now, i am thoroughly dissappointed with this new product from a company with such a history. it is extremely unfortunate that the General Motors influence has diluted this once great automotive treasure, at least for foreseeable future. this is one saab owner's opinion. i would definitely like to hear what others in this group think about this. thanks
