They're fairly easy to replace Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Vacuum Hose size?, Will, Wed, 14 Aug 2002 08:45:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When I replaced the vacuum hoses on my '89, I took the hoses off one at a time, put the new hose next to the old one, cut the new one to match the old one, and installed the new one on the same vacuum nipples as the old one.
If you do it systematically, it's easy. The one tough vacuum hose was the one that goes to the vacuum canister on the right side. Silicone hose is a bit tough to get in the clips.
I got silicone hoses from NOPI for $1 a foot, which is not bad for those things, even if they don't know what a SAAB is at those places :-)
You could use rubber vacuum hose from the chain stores, but you have to make sure that it's vacuum hose - plain old windshield washer hose isn't suitable for vacuum applications because gas and oil vapors attack it.
