Not from the radiator - and another possibility Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Overheating Emergency, Mike, Sat, 17 Aug 2002 12:19:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Radiator problem wouldn't be a leak - it would be clogged tubes in the radiator or fins that have started to fall off. (BTDT)
You don't get sufficient flow through the radiator when some of the tubes are clogged or, either if there's goo (highly technical term) coating the tubes or fins are missing, you don't get heat flowing from the coolant to the radiator.
I'm inclined to agree with Jim Moncrief and think that the first place to look is the fan switch, fans, and thermostat to make sure that they do what they're supposed to, then go onto the radiator.
This is assuming that the crossover hose (small 90* hose between the block and head) hasn't sprung a leak and eliminated a small stream of coolant out onto the battery (I was going to use a different word). That leak is hard to find if you're not looking at it when it's happening. (BTDT - If you own enough C900s, you experience a few failures like this)
