My brake light switch would stick from time to time on my 1990 SPG. Instead of letting the battery drain by accident, I decided to switch it out. Also, brake light problems are a personal pet peave of mine. Have you ever been following someone with 1 of 3 brake lights that work. Or worse, none. I figure I can't preach about saftey and functional tail lights if I don't have mine working right. </rant off>
The new switch is about $10 at the dealer, if I remember right. I pop the seat out (5 minutes, much easier than working under dash with the seat in), then take out 1 screw that holds the heater duct. I kinda fold the heater duct over and duct tape it back. Then I got a flashlight and found the switch and did the swap. Pretty quick, just a lot of twisting around on my back. Put a towel or something by the bar on the floor (the one the seat bolts into). Your back with thank you for it.
