My '86 900S has had symptoms for a while of idle fluctuation and stalling during the first 1 or 2 minutes of operation after a cold start. I've replaced the vacuum lines and intake manifold grommets under the hood, and sprayed carb cleaner around to locate any vacuum leaks. (Didn't find any.) So the air mass meter appears to be the most likely suspect.
According to the Bently manual, when installing a replacedment AMM there is an adjustment that needs to be set using a CO meter. How necessary is this? Are there alternatives to using the CO meter? (I don't have one and don't know anyone who does.) I'm planning on purchasing a rebuilt AMM from Sobstory as soon as I can pry loose few bucks to do so, as the idle problem has been getting worse.
