Today while driving to work my SRS light started blinking as I drove over a very rough section of road that was under construction. The light blinked for about 1-2 mins then stayed on solid. When I restarted the light blinked again (I didn’t have time to wait for it go solid again). I have read a lot of the posts but have a couple of questions. Oh, I checked and my horn does work so I am guessing it is not the contact ring (is this reasonable?). Here are my questions:
1.Does the light blinking mean that I just don’t have an airbag or does it mean that the bag might go off at some random time.
2.Last week I replaced my turn signal switch. Could I have unknowingly caused this mess while doing this? Is the contact coil (for the airbag) connected to the bracket (the one the turn signal is connected to) that I had to lower to get the turn signal out and could I have replaced it (the bracket) improperly? The car was fine for a week and a half and then this started.
3.Six months ago (I’ll have to check my rec’t it might be six months to the day (only off by 1 or 2 at the most)). I had it in to the dealer to fix something and when I picked it up the SRS light was blinking. They told me that was caused from them working under the trunk and having the trunk up (light on) and draining the battery. Anyhow…They took the car around back and reset the light. But I was wondering, can they rest it to go off in a certain amount of time, say 6 months?
4.Or could I have just rattled something loose on the rough road.
Thanks,
Dirk
