On Monday I posted a problem I was having installing a clutch on an 85 8 valve. I was using a low mileage clutch from an 86 8 valve. I had swapped everything including flywheel (except slave cylinder & throw out bearing) and could not get enough travel to disengage the clutch. I tried bleeding and pumping and no improvement was noticed. I took it all apart and took a closer look at things. The slave cylinder was very different and I could see immediately that this was my problem. I don't understand why as the parts list shows the same assembly for many years. I was reluctant to replace the slave because of all the difficulties I have read about here in trying to bleed them. That was my only reason for not replacing it to begin with. All went well with reassembly and it now works like a charm. It seems that I always do things twice before I get them right. Think I learn twice as much??? Thanks to all who responded to my original post.
