There's thick and there's thick.
Living here in GA, with its months and months of >90*F days, I find that M1 10W30 is perfectly fine in my 130k mile-old 900. Other TSN C900 board contributors use 5W30 and 0W30 synthetic oils under similar temperature and driving conditions with no ill effects.
The bearing loadings in a 900T don't reall require anything thicker, assuming you have the normal level of wear in yours at that mileage and it's had the normal oil change intervals. For an MB turbo diesel, I'd want the 15W50 because of the shock loadings on the bearings.
But, as long as you're aware of the reasons for choosing the different weights under the different conditions, your choice of 15W50 certainly won't do any harm.
