patch with a small piece of canvas and "tear grease" brand adhesive.
Patch on the inside (duh).
Raise the top enough to take the tension off the fabric, and also to allow enough room to get a hand in .
Maybe why it happened???
Check to see if the spacers are in place.
Saab used a plastic spacer on each side of mechanism to keep top from dropping too far in down position (at least on the earlier conv, not sure about 92).
With the top down, you should be able to see what looks like a plastic strap that wraps around the main hinge pin. This should connect to a square, flat piece of plastic that keeps the hinge from dropping too far down. Not uncommon to have to replace every couple of years.
