Dex,
This sounds like my when my Mom's 1990 900's left her stranded, but we haven't got a friend with a 16V 900 to swap LH-Jet brains with...

What we DID do:
I found that her car DID have spark, and WAS firing fuel injectors--I tested injector plug with a "noid" light--a good tool to have, about $8 at Advance Auto Parts--which simply plugs into fuel injector wire plug. (This led me to suspect fuel delivery as the culprit.)

Then, I found her car would run if 12V current was run hooked straight to fuel pump fuse #30--by jumper wiring fuse #27, pass. side terminal, to fuse #30, driver's side terminal.

[Try this to see if fuel pump--and engine--will run. If so, be careful, pump runs as long as jumper wire is in place.]

So, I got her home using the jumpered-#27-to-#30-fuse procedure (above, as in 16V Bentley book, a great resource). I did some more Bentley tests when I got her 900 home and realized the LH-Jetronic brain was not giving a ground to the fuel pump relay, which is why fuel pump would not operate, unless powered directly, but everything else is OK.

I later talked to our (2-hour drive away) mechanic, Tom Townsend, on the phone. Tom is a great SAAB tech and he said it was 99 percent likely the LH brain is toast. So he told me to ground purple wire of the relay for fuel pump, located atop the LH computer housing, inside the car, passenger side kick panel, just ahead of the door, behind the carpet--you know. That way, the relay always has a ground. When key is switched on, the fuel pump runs, but it's NOT totally safe--in a wreck, fuel pump would keep running until you shut key off!). But it works, like he said it would!

So, back to my original question: Did you check the 2 relays inside the car, located just above the LH-Jetronic computer? Or were the relays you tested outside, under the hood? If you have the Bentley book, try testing the 2 at the LH computer. One is LH-system relay, other is fuel pump relay.

I don't know if the purple wire thing is for your '92, but I hope this helps!
