"If you're in doubt, just replace the whole damn bulb and holder and be done with it. I've damaged the bulbs by removing them from the holder before. IMHO."
This is EXACTLY why i didn't mess with it too much (and start swapping bulb holders, although i will probably try that next week), as i NEED to drive the car this weekend... i was afraid of doing something stupid (like messing up the bulb) and then not even having a chance to drive it this weekend!
I'll check each time i start that the car this weekend that the light illuminates at the proper time, if it doesn't, i'm figuring (HOPING) that the worse case scenario would be that i shut the car off, turn ignition to "on", remove speaker grill and wiggle until the light is on. This SHOULD ensure that the circuit is complete and that the battery recharges while i'm driving and will be ready for the next start-up.
I didn't know what part of the components could be purchased separately (like the holder) so thanks for letting me know.
Since you've replaced before, do you recall how much the dealership charged for a bulb and/or holder?
