You may want to consider wedging a coin (or some other kind of shim) between one or two the fingers of the pressure plate and the throwout bearing, having a helper press the clutch pedal, wedge the spacer into the free area, and go onto the next finger. Rotate the flywheel CCW as you're looking at it to go onto the next one. It's incremental, but it's better than cutting the slave (BTDT).
