Oil cooler line leak

It looks like past owner unhooked the wires that go to the Oil cooler thermostat, I believe if they are unplugged oil will not flow to the Cooler? Is that correct?
One of the lines has a split were it was leaking quite a bit. Can I cut the line and put a connector in it or is it to high of a pressure and needs replaced?
Thanks for your help on this.
Rick
