I replaced the manual trans. on my 87 900Turbo and did all other mtc. myself. I don't have as much time to do myself this time around and am chosing to buy major service rather than do myself - this is why I am curious if the '92 year will provide me with more mtc. free service than the '87.

The care needs:
New Tranny (so I am told by the owner - not sure how he determined this is the problem, but am assuming to be the case.)
Looks like rear (front of car) crankshaft seal must be leaking - some oil under and around the trans. to engine housing (easy fix once trans. is out).
I will assume the drivers might need replacing (I am not sure if I should expect as much wear on these in this car as I experienced on my Turbo).
Small body work on drivers door - gentle push in due to a parking accident by their son's friend. Possibly could be pushed out from inside with minor buffing to look respectable. I am assuming body in price as I negotiate.
Otherwise - car looks clean, straight and in excellent shape - no rust, interior is nice, cloth top looks great and seals tight...

Bottom line - it is being offered to me for $1,000 as they want it 'out of there'. Prob. assume $800 would let me tow away. I don't think I can go wrong. I am curious if '92 will be any different than '87 OR if S will be any different than Turbo when it comes to maintenance?
