Just did a 2400 mile roadtrip in C900 Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Mon, 16 Sep 2002 01:14:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1994 C900TC - Commemorative Edition - Now at 66368 miles.
I got 26.3 MPG average. I shot for 75MPH on the cruise in the USA, 85-90MPH from Buffalo to Montreal, and 85 through Mass. AC was on for probably 1100 of the miles. probably 500 with the top down. Home is Cleveland. We went to toronto, montreal, vermont and maine. A wonderful trip.
Thanks to reading this BB I knew how to troubleshoot something... My wife (total leadfoot) was passing cars in Maine. All of a sudden she's passing a car, going up a hill and she freaks out. "I'm losing... gas... What the hell!" She pulled over and calmed down and said the car made a pop/clunk sound and she lost power. I put my shoes on, woke up, cursed, then thought "get a 7mm socket..." The plumbing from the intercooler to the intake had popped off, just like I've read about on here. I looked under the hood and thankfully my guess was correct. Easy fix and we were off.
Today we drove from Portland, ME to Cleveland. The 2 highlights: there was some sort of classic car show this weekend. For HOURS I saw hot rods and classics pass by me going east. The best were the Benz coupes from the 50's & 60's. Stunning cars! The other highlight was dinner at Salvatores in Buffalo NY. If you've been there, you know the meaning of overblown and tacky.
The bummer - contstant rain from Mass to home.
Thanks to all of you TSN folks for offering up New England vacation sugguestions. Kancamagus (sp?) highways we wonderful, Mass drivers are downright dangerous, and Acadia/Bar Harbor/Seal Cove Auto Museum were great!
Happy Saabing!
Randy
