It could be the brake calliper U-spring (yolk) thing.

If suspension checks out even just borderline good the most common reason for the "clunk sound" is increased holes at the callipers where the U spring (yolk?) is inserted and holds the brake pads.
***** Extremely cheap and easy fix.*********
1. remove wheel.
2. remove little pin from back of U thing(or whatever you call it)
3. pull U half way out.
4. bend it slightly and re-insert making certain you re instal the little pin.
I read this in the Townsend Imports web pages and it did fix the clunking problem for my 1987 900T.
