That's been one of the frequent 'nuisance' codes that I get very often. 12111 & 12112. It was not serious enough to cause your CEL to light up while driving, was it? Your new AMM might just fix it, wait & see. As O2 sensors get old & sluggish they can still oscillate, just slower. The sensor should still be OK at 17k.

Drivability issues when the engine is cold shouldn't be related to the O2 sensor because it isn't warmed up yet. I'm not sure how long it takes to warm up, maybe a minute? Until its hot, only the AMM controls things. After its hot, the O2 signal is used in addition to the AMM.

I don't have a turbo, so I can't really add much for Dave's trouble...
