Got up bright and early to beat the heat and do the fuel distributor line system replacement. Had to do it because of a crack along one of the warm-up regulator lines where the fitting meets the plastic. Unfortunately it was on the line which connects to the banjo fitting on the fuel distributor that splits off and runs to the pulse modulator valve. Fortunately I already had a replacement for the entire fuel dist tubing/line system. And since I had the air filter and fuel distributor system apart, I decided to give that entire air flow sensor/fuel dist system a good cleaning. Carb cleaner came in handy to remove 2 decades of built up oil and dirt beneath the sensor plate. I also used carb cleaner inside the fuel distributor unit and low pressure compressed air to blow the system clean. I wanted to take the fuel distributor apart, but opted to not do it with the thought in mind that I didn't have a replacement if I somehow damaged something.mAfter reassembly the car started up and purred like a you know what.
5 hours of that and I still wasn't finished. It was off to the sweltering valley (100 or so, AC blazing the whole time) to my fav j-yard to find a replacement flasher relay for the turn signals. I only had a sucpicion that my relay was shot, given the symptoms of the turn signal sometimes working, sometimes not. At the j-yard I ended up pulling three relays, then ate a delicious taco dinner in the shade with ice water. I replaced the suspected failed unit first thing upon returning home and was delighted to once again have working turn signals. Hope I didn't cause too bad of a ripple in the continuum.
