Thanks for all the advice. Coffee filter is a great idea; I will use this and some pry tool because like most girls --we don't use our nails as tools!! : )
I do have some peculiar no-start conditions at times (and I thought I was familiar with *all* the areas that could be contributing factors!!) so clearing this up can only help.
Acetone? hey! That's nail-polish remover! I was going to use isoprob.alcohol? In any case, I wonder if I threw the plate out of alignment last year so I will definitely check it again this weekend. When i had pulled the filter out I think I could have bent the adjustment lever that's located underneath. If I created a bigger gap then the mixture is more air-rich, right? In any case I'll check it.
