I ran out of gas this weekend on a highway (Reserve warning light malfunction- will never trust it again). Anyway, a very nice couple stopped to help me (my cell phone was dead, of course) so they actually went to the nearest town and brought me back a gallon of gas, they didn't even accept my $10 offer for the gas and help. I poured it into the tank, got in, and the car still would not start, it only cranked. I feared perhaps the fuel pump or something had gone and parhaps it wasn't that i was out of fuel. They ended up diving home (about 15 minutes away, and calling AAA for me as my phone was dead. An hour or so later the truck came and we took it to the nearest gas station. I filled it up with 93 and sure enough it started right up. I hguess one gallon isn't enough for the engine to start. I don't know why, maybe there is too litle to sustain adaquate fuel pressure for the injectors? Anyway, if you ever run out of gas you may need more than just 1 gallon of gas!
