Hello,
I am somewhat familiar with 900 turbos, because a good friend ownes an '88.
I am looking to buy a '86 SPG that has been advertised locally. I know of a few of the main differences between a regular turbo and an SPG such as
-stiffer, lower suspension
-SPG panels on doors
-more powerful car (larger displacement? bigger turbo? please let me know)
-better seats
What else an I missing? please explain why the SPG is a more powerful car than a turbo of the same year.
Is there ANY real mechanical difference between the models of SPGs 85-92??? besides cosmetic ones? particualrily differences in HP, etc? by the way, what is the HP rating on an SPG?
This particular car has a full base metal respray restoration back in 2000, and a upgraded post '91 transmission. How much more reliable is the post '91 trannys? (my friend's '88 turbo pops out of reverse)
The car has apparently been babied and properly maintained it's whole life with full service history.
Finally, the car has 178,000 miles on it. Is that too high to go for?
I'd really appreciate any info, opinions, etc that any of you Saab pros can provide. I'm really looking forward to owning a Saab.
-Thanks very much, and thanks for reading,
-Robbie Marsh
