As long as you've got LH 2.4 its easy to read the codes. Check for dirty/loose/corroded connections at any of the wiring connections - AMM, AIC, throttle switch, NTC, etc... Check the bundle of ground wires near the thermostat housing. Then read the codes.
The sender for the temperature gauge is on the front of the thermostat housing, facing forward, its kinda small with one wire. Is it knocked loose? Otherwise take out the speaker & check the small nuts behind the gauge. Anders or somebody said they can get loose.
