Having recently moved to Texas, I took matters into my own hands and bought a 134a AC conversion kit. It's been a month, and so far, no problems with the AC.
However, when the AC is on, my RPM's drop considerably and on really hot days, the oil pressure warning lights steadily when the car is idling with the AC. If both cooling fans are running in addition to my headlights, my voltage drops down close to 9 volts. It's a bit of a pain pressing on the accelartor in stop and go traffic (but more than worth it for the cold air..)
Question is this: is there some sort of mechanism that tells the engine to idle faster when the AC is on and could it be broken in my case? (my old chevy had one--it was called an idle-stop solenoid) If not, do I just need to adjust the idle for it to run faster? It would be kind of a waste when the AC wasn't on though..
Thank you again for your time.
