Of course a Fiat Spyder weighed about 900 pounds less than a C900 and had waaaay better weight distribution.
You could almost get away with it if you had an SPG, though. The loaded spring length is just about the same as the distance between the spring seats with the A-arms fully extended.
I'd be hesitant about using a homemade on a C900. It's still a little squirrelly using real threaded bar-type spring compressors on the front springs.
Ususlly places like AutoZone have compressors that you leave a deposit on and get it all back when you return it. Harbor Freight is a good alternative if you have time for mail order.
