Prior to my recent heart attack, I used to be the Osama Bin Laden of the highway, namely by terrorizing those who loiter in the left lane. This included tailgating, passing on the right, passing on the shoulder, leaving very little room when passing (coming as close to hitting theem as possible). I did this with any car I drove.
Mostly, I learned that by staying in the far right lane, I could pass many more people. Also when traffic comes to a complete stop, many times I could continue driving in the far right lane for an extra mile or two.
I have 2 n/a Saabs, so decellerating, then speeding up is not an option. I also have a 72 Buick GS, and one look in the rear veiw of a 70's muscle car with hood scoops either gets them to pull over, or the complete opposite, when they try to not let you pass. Any event, with big 4 barrels, you can slice & dice your way through traffic.
Bottom line is, stay to the right , much less traffic there. Don't take anything personal on the road, it's not worth it. When someone gives you the finger, smile & wave at them ( this REALLY pisses them off, or makes them think they just flipped off someone they should know, like theeir pastor or co-worker)
