Heated mirrors fix FIY

Thought I'd post my repair of my drivers side heated mirror element. This post is rushed, so please excuse the grammar...
Removed mirror glass from housing, cut mirror off from backing - be careful. Removed excess foam adhesive, especially from prong contact areas. You will notice that the defrost element will be corroded or gone altogether from the rivet areas where the prongs attach to the grid. I made a jumper wire from the rivet to the grid where it widens and unaffected by corrosion. To attach I soldered the wire to the rivet, then slipped it under the grid mat at the new point of contact. The grid is encased in a plastic which is impossible to peel back and melts at almost the same temp as the grid metal. With jumper wire (fluxed) slipped under the grid, I dropped a bead of solder on top the grid and reheated it until it melted and bonded to the wire. Make sure to check for resistance with a multimeter to be sure of the repair. Reattach mirror with rtv silicone.
In support of my superstition regarding the Continuum, my CE light (for EGR temp) has reappeared and my freshly repaired wiper cable popped off again since performing this cost effective mirror repair.
