Thanks for the tips GA & JB.
The local dealer had offered to detail my car (due to a lot of reasons which I won't go into here). Typically, I don't trust detailers to show any REAL concern for what they're doing to make any car look good (also due to a lot of reasons which...). But, my car looked like crap (out of the garage all summer due to a house move), the dealer said the guy owned a '91 900, & I thought, "hey, it's free." The detailer actually did a pretty good job, BUT whatever he sprayed on the clear plastic shot thru the gaps around the dashlight/clock knobs & sprayed half way up the font of the gauges. I was just going to leave that, 'cuz it's spreading out & (sort of) balancing in color. But it must have also pooled in the corners of the display opening, 'cuz there's a nice fan of residual crud which has spread out on the back of the plastic & is now covering the clock.
I might call back the dealer & have him clean it, but I don't know if I trust 'em enough (I don't want to generate even more problems). On the other hand, maybe they need to go thru this so they don't do it to someone else...
