Hi, Friends.

Well, we finally got our 900. Now we're the proud owners of a '94 9000 and a '93 900S. I've got a quick question regarding the 900.

We bought it last week, and there are a few "issues" which the Saab dealership will fix this week prior to our picking it up at the end of the week. First of all, when test driving it we noted a lack of cold air, and ultimately learned that it was the old "12" system and they are currently doing the conversion to the "34"...or is it "134"...whatever it is, they're doing the conversion. :)

They are also changing the valve cover gasket, because we saw a little pool of what appeared to be coolant (and oil around that area as well, which we seemed to find in EVERY old style 900 we looked at...TONS!), and they are doing something with this thingamabob in which I found pooled power steering fluid (over on the passenger side of the car.)

Okay...that's all fine. However, what I wanted to check on here on the board is the minor rust issues we found. We asked them to repair those as well so that they won't start acting like a cancer and metastasize. They agreed. I want to make sure we're asking for the right stuff. I'm hoping you'll be able to help me with that, since quite obviously my terminology is lacking considerably!

The two little spots, and they did appear to be "surface" rust, are located 1.) near where the battery sits there's a little hole there ...you know, that little hole whatever it's called (not a RUST hole, but a hole which is supposed to be there)...there's a tiny bit of rust around that hole and 2.) there's another circular hole, about the size of a quarter (also which is supposed to be there, but I don't know the name of it...it's up in front of the passenger's side...if you look down into that area you can see the hole), and that hole has a bit of rust around it, too.

Okay...now that you have a simplistic idea of what I'm referring to, can you supply me with the correct terminology? :) What should we make SURE they're doing to adequately address these minor rust issues so that they don't become major rust issues?

Thanks immensely for any guidance...

Julia
