I just replaced the rubber exhaust hanger bushings on my '90 900 tonight. Wow what a difference. The old stretched out ones permitted the exhaust to move around at different rpm's and while turning, making my car sound like chitty chitty bang bang. If you suspect that your exhaust bushings might be shot, try wiggling the tailpipe and listen for clunking. If you hear noise, they should be replaced. All 3 list for around $23 at the dealer.
Also, Andy made a good point about the motor mount. The 9000's and some model year 900's came with hydraulic motor mounts, which had some issues. The front one seems particularly prone to failure. You can test it by parking in an area with plenty of room in front the car and leave the engine running with the parking brake engaged. Open the hood, place the car in 1st gear and slowly but simultaneously release the clutch and depress the gas pedal (without stalling of course). If you see the whole motor jumping around, chances are pretty good that the frount mount is failing, or has failed. Replacing it is fairly straightforward, but does require removing the radiator (at least that's what I had to do on mine). Anyhow, check the exhaust bushings first and good luck.
