I'd second everything Ubipa said... I'd relocate the axle myself if I didn't have more pressing things. One thing to keep in mind about my setup is that I'm talking about a car without those super-size fender flares, which I think *will* be a problem for you. Also, on the subject, I've got an S which is about 300 pounds lighter than your SPG - my springs are effectively stiffer, so there is less tendency for body movement and thus body/wheel interference. All this *isn't* to say you'll have a problem, only to keep them in mind.
I'll add this to the pot: My totally stock (in the suspension category) '90 SPG runs Aero (16x6.5, ET27) wheels with 205/50-16s, and I do get very occassional rubbing on the rear fender flares when there's a load in back. The front has been fine. I don't usually carry people in that car (and someday it won't even have a back seat...) so it isn't a problem for me. Anyway, you'll be .5" wider, but with slightly more inboard wheels so it should be similar results for you. I've read that some people have removed the wider flares to solve their rubbing problems.
As for choice, I really like the 17s on my Alfa, but IMHO that's too much wheel for a street-driven Saab. As Ubipa said, you'll have to run 205/45-17 (unless you relocate the rear axle), and that just isn't enough tire for my tastes... I freak out with every pothole with 205/55-16s on the 2-door! My opinion is that if this is a street-driven car, find the lightest 6.5"-7" wide wheel you can. 15, 16, or 17 doesn't matter. A little more contact patch goes a long way. Extra weight at each corner does too. I chose my 16s 'cause they weigh 16lbs each, and for no other reason. Light wheels = good.
