I used a few brass barbs. I cant remember which size, it was either 1/4" or 3/8". I am pretty sure it was 3/8". I drove my car for about 4 months with this setup.

What had happened was I accidently forgot to remove the fuel lines from the fuel rail while I was removing the engine, at night. Second time I had to remove the engine that night because I screwed up the shifter linkage. So I pulled it apart and ripped it.

To fix it, I went to Home Depot and bought fuel hose for "carburator" rated at 50psi. Not intended for the high pressure of fuel injection obviously. Kinda dangerous. Then I joined it with the factory fuel lines right where it passes by the drivers seat. You have to summon all the strength in your body to push these barbs on, I am a strong guy but it really is almost impossible to get these things on all the way. I got it over two humps of the barb. BTW, I got the barbs for about $1 each at Home Depot. I think you can use a special tool to install these things, I didnt bother.

I actually ripped out my jury-rigged fuel lines after watching a show on Dateline NBC where this guy like hit a curb in his Ford Taurus while pulling up to a 7-11. He blacked out and sat in the car for about 20 minutes while he was burnt crispy, but he survived. His face was so deformed, yikessssss. Scared me good, so I decided that I would rather not risk screwing with the fuel system. I'm redoing mine to be a little safer should I get in an accident. That barb would probably be the first thing to pop off in a side impact accident.

Good luck,

Rob
