I've got the same car and I've always had the same "problem". I recently had to get my car emissions tested and that's something I've had problems with in the past. In an effort to "clean up" my engine to help it pass the test I ran some guaranteed 2 pass as well as had a Bilstein 2000 engine flush where a detergent is pressure fed through the oil filter housing and evacuated through the drain.
After I had this done to the car I noticed that my car started instantly! If the car tuned over a full revolution it was alot. I loved it. My car felt smoother and quieter and it didn't stall when cold. It was literally like having a brand new engine.
Unfortunately it didn't last long. I started reading some posts about idle fluctuations when cold and how to "fix" it. Well I should have left well enough alone but it sound like such a simple fix. I tampered with the adjustment screw on the AMM and moved it just a hair in the direction it was supposed to go and it threw everything off kilter. I went right back to my old problem of "hard" starting. I know my car needs a new exhaust since the one I have is original and the muffler sounds like a marraca when I shake it side to side. That may be a contributor along with a possible air leak somewhere in the system.
The good news is that I passed my emissions test like a champ. I think the problem is fixable but like so many other things that aren't just right how far are you willing to go to fix it? Does it hurt reliability or performance? Is it a symptom of a bigger problem or is it a stand alone problem? If you're handy with a digital volt meter you might want to trouble shoot it. I'm sure the answer is somewhere in these pages.
It's just my .02c worth. Let us know what you find 'cause I'm sure the problem is pretty common.
