Squealing from somewhere around firewall. Any ideas?

I have an '86 SPG, and there is a fairly loud squealing noise comming from the engine bay intermittantly. It sounds as if it is comming from right on the other side of the firewall. It occurs most within the first 10-20 minutes of driving, and more so on cold days. The squealing will happen in random intervals on and off anywhere from one or two seconds to about 15 seconds of noise. And seems to occur more when turning. I had the same sort of noise in my old BMW, and I simply topped off the power steering fluid and the noise was gone. I tried that in my Saab, but to no avail. Are there any known problem areas for squeaks that I should take a look at?
Thanks much,
-Rob
