I posted this in the main BBS, andsomeone suggested postingit here, so...
The hood latch on my '86 900S ceased to function.
It had been getting more and more recalcitrant recently, (yeah, yeah, I should have taken care of it before :-( :-( ), and now is schwerpunkt.
I removed the driver's side headlight bezel which gave me something of a look into the area, and can see the secondary hood release, and the primary (or at least what looks like a latch arm and its return spring), tugged on the latch with the universal tool, a bent coathangar, to no avail.
I can clearly see the return spring, and the latch arm, but can't get a hold on it far enugh out from the pivot to get it to release. That, or I'm pulling on the wrong thing.
A friend with the Bentley manual says that the special Saab tool looks supiciously like what I'm using ;-). Unfortunately, he can't relay to me the right place to apply it.
Any help/suggestions?
