Gentlemen: I changed the tranny fluid in my new-to-me 88 SPG about 500 miles ago, putting in 10w30, along with a tube of BG high pressure oil. I then replaced that in a couple hundred miles with more fresh motor oil. THEN I stumbled upon an earlier discussion on this board that indicates replacing oil in a gearbox that was run on gear oil was a non-no. I vaguely remember the original oil had a gearbox smell (I think), and paperwork from the previous owner showed a shop added a quart of 75w a couple years back. So ... I freaked out and put new 75w in last night. Any recommendations? Should I flush with compressor oil a couple times, then try the Honda fluid? Or - now that the deed is done - just change the gear oil one more time along with cleaning out the box by dropping the differntial cover and drive the thing until it drops? Thanks for any advice.
