('88 900T )OK I know this is impossible to answer with no more information than I'm giving you but........Just cranked up the engine after doing an auto to 5sp trannie conversion, pulled the engine of course. Everything has gone pretty smooth up to now. Was pretty sure everything was reconnected properly but obviosly something's not right. Engine fired right up but won't idle. In fact, not even close. It searches radically for idle surging to 1800 rpm+/- then drops till it almost dies then surges back up to 1800+/-. This cycle lasts about 5 seconds. Any thoughts beside disconnecting and reconnecting everything to see where I might have screwed up? Also, seperate issue, timing chain/valves are making an inordinate amount of noise even though I didn't do anything with the valve train except replace the pad in the top of the VC. While installing the trannie I may have (probably) manually turned the crankshaft in the opposite direction of it's normal rotation. Could this have done something to the timing chain tensioner? Any thoughts on either issue appreciated.
