In '91 your car doesn't have the pre-pump & main-pump setup. You only have one original pump & its a Walbro. Saab only officially sells the whole pump assembly, with the plastic canister & jet pump scavenger, all together.
Check TSN sponsors for just the pump itself. When you pull the whole assembly out of the gas tank, its pretty straightforward to dismantle it & replace just the pump.
If you're having a mechanic do this, you gotta find out if he's willing to swap just the pump.
If you or your mechanic do this, here's a couple of tips...
1) There are a couple different Walbro pumps, with slightly different hose nipples or electrical connections. If you get the wrong one, you might still be OK with just a little creativity.
2) The rubber parts that hold the pump in place only fit after they have swelled up in the gasoline. If you let them dry out they won't fit. I put them in a jar of gasoline to swell back up & then they're OK.
3) Electrical connections for the pump. Be certain they are secure. Loose connections are a bad thing to have inside the gas tank.
