We've all been there. I broke off the shock mount from the A-arm on my daughter's 88 900T a few months ago, had to use a backup A-arm which I fortunately had. Also slipped doing a brake job on my 9000 and the RF hub jammed into something and tore the RF boot, a job I have never attempted before... but did it anyway. I guess we all make mistakes, but that is the way you learn. At least CV boots are cheap, and they need to be replaced once in a while anyway.
Remove the lower ball joint bolts only, cut off the bad CV boot, then pivot the axle out while you unclip the axle from hub (clip buried in grease) and pull it out. Hope your weekend improves!
