I've got a no-spark problem on my wife's 5 spd '89 900, after a bad ignition switch cylinder also took out the starter. Since she wasn't able to get the key into the "lock" position, it had also drained the battery by the time I got to it; I'm not sure if the switch was in the "accessory" or "run" position. Also, prior to this problem, it had been intermittently loosing power / almost cutting out at highway speeds. Anyway, now that the starter & key cylinder are fixed, I have no spark. The crank position sensor & knock sensor seem ok, the EZK ecu works fine in another car, and the coil resistances are ok. What I'm noticing is that the test given in the Bentley manual for the ignition amp, where connector pins 3&4 are supposed to rise to 6V and then quickly drop to 0V when the ignition is turned on, are yielding a constant 0V on the original amp/coil I had, and a constant 12V on the used unit I put in. Do I have 2 bad units here, and is there a bench test that can be performed on the integrated coil/amp assembly? I'm also not 100% sure that the ignition pulse signal to the amp is within spec when cranking, but I would think the other test should work regardless, right?
