I've found that in the audio world, you generally get what you pay for, but you've got to be a smart consumer to hit the right spot on the performance/price curve (e.g. a $600 set of speakers is only marginally better than a $250 set, but a $150 set is WAAAAAY better than a $40 set.

I'm running the kenwoods and they are OK (in fact, I think one of the better 4x10s), but please read the details below. Secondly, you can find speakers cheaper than Crutchfield (for the same models). Several Internet vendors are cheaper and there is always eBay which frequently has new speakers (I don't by used speakers unless I really know how they were treated).

Unfortunately, there are not any really good 4x10s. One solution is to skip the 4x10s and put 6x9s in the rear hatch cover. This has the problem that it will be hard to tune with 4" speakers in the dash to get a forward soundstage since you will need to really hear the 6x9s for the bass, which means you'll really hear them for all the other frequencies essentially drowning out the 4" dash speakers. It also has the disadvantage of hacking into the board and looking kinda cheap.

If you really like a stock look (which I do), you can get decent sound in the factory locations, BUT (read that as a slightly expensive but) you need to run pretty darn good 4" in the dash (which you can get) and a sub. This way, the 4x10s are used primarily for rear fill and will not be as strongly heard as the fronts and sub. This is what I'm running. I have Soundstream exacts in the dash (crossed over at 80, 12 Db slope), Kenwood 4x10s in the rear (crossed over at 75, 12 Db slope) and a single Soundstream Reference 12" in a sealed box (crossed over at 75, 12 Db slope). Just for reference in case you are wondering, it is all powered from an Alpine 5 channel amp (MRV-F353) mounted next to the spare tire.

Good luck,
Dave D
