reading is ok all over the moving spectrum.
The usual problem with the older style 3 prong AIC is that someone is messing around with the throttle adjust screw, moving the throttle switch out of idle position, and therefore making the AIC stand still just puttering on the same spot.
Because the ECU don't know it suppose to idle compensate.
This will burn two indentations in the commutator from the brushes and make the AIC sticky.
I hook an Ohm meter up to the center and outer pins, get a reading at several spots. If it's more than 25 Ohm or that I can even feel the burned spot, it's toast.
Or measure across the two outer pins and get a reading of over 45 Ohm.
