I'm no car painter but, I prepped my porsche for paint. Did most of the body work myself. How I learned was just going for it. Took all the windows out. Bought myself a compressor, da grinder, sander, bondo, aluminum tape, fiber glass, primer, lots of different grades of sand paper etc. There are good books out there. Do a search on google. I did all the work outside on the weekends. No garage, took me about 7 months before I brought it over to a friends house and he shot it with imron paint in his garage. Looks pretty good. This is a great learning experience for anyone. Very satisfying. But, it takes a long time to get right. If you do this yourself, you will see why shops charge so much. They wanted anywhere from 4-8 grand to do my porsche. I spent about a grand on materials and allot of hard work. I would add a pic but dont know how on this board.
Good luck
