Understeer- also known as 'push'.
Understeer is when you turn the wheels, and the car doesn't turn as much as you've turned the wheels. An extreme example is if you were on snow, and you turned the wheels and the car kept going straight.
Most cars are set up for understeer because it's safer than oversteer. Come into a corner too fast, and the car will tend to move in a bigger curve than you're steering.
The opposite is oversteer. That's where the car turns MORE than what you've dialed into the steering wheel. In most cases, this isn't due to the front end moving more, it's due to the rear end sliding out. As an example, on older rear-engine Porches, if you lifted off the gas in a turn, the rear end would get lighter. The lighter rear end would lose grip, and the weight of the engine would cause the rear end to come around.
