If you live in the states, I'd be hesitant about following the advice of somebody who isn't bound by US law. Andrew is in Canada (you can search the IP address and see where it's from) and, as such, he isn't bound by US laws and can't be subject any penalties under those laws for giving advice for you to do something illegal. He can pollute as much as he wants with immunity from US law.
I'm sure that he'll post some rebuttal to the effect of "Yer stupid if you think that yer government will go after one '81 SAAB owner."
You do what you think is right, but in this thread, Randy has the best advice. It's cheap to do it right - the Bosch engineers knew what they were doing with the CIS system in your car ... even if Andrew thinks it's anal not to cobble it.
