....but I've worked on bunches of 'em. Read your Honda - SAAB thread when it posted.

Saw eight SAAB 900s in the junkyard over the weekend. Two '84s and six '88s. One of the '84s was a rare (in LA anyway) four-door automatic sedan Turbo with the weird looking stick-on spoiler on the trunklid.

Anyway, all the cars except one went in excess of 200k. One went 260k. Miles, not kilometers for those scoring at home. The one that didn't make 200k went 168k and the tranny probably went bad.

The problem is, we buy these cars when they're already 12-20 years old. They don't wear out evenly either. The motor's good for 200k easy but that could be two or three trannys, five clutch slaves, three headliners, and 27 clutch pedals. Which makes it frustrating. Do you keep the car or not? Is it worth fixing?

Hondas hit a certain point and the whole car goes straight to hell. Very easy to know when to ditch the thing. Revisit your wife's Honda in the year 2017. That's the equivilent of your '83 900T today. I guaren-frickin'-teeya your opinion will change.

Having said that, I've worked on many beautiful 20-year-old Hondas. It all comes down to the care they receive and whether road salt enters into the picture. The same can be said for SAAB. If you bought a brand-new 9-3 today, you would take care of it. The same cannot be said for the owners of your SAAB who came before you. So you must atone for their sins.

Enjoy Turkey Day.
