Unless the key is tuning freely with no resistance you should not need to remove the lock. You need to remove the entire assembly. The 3 strange nuts hold the assembly in place. Once those are off you will need to rotate the entire assembly so you can remove the 2 phillips head screws on the bottom. Once those are removed you will be able to remove the entire assembly. There are 3 bolts that hold this together. Remove them and you will see that there are 3 gears that mesh together. The gear that controls the reverse lock is the one furthest from the lock cylinder. It operates a lever. Remove the gear, lever, and spring. I just went through this job after my son's friend tried to help pop start his car after his battery was dead. His was worse because the ears on the gear below the lock switch were broken. It is a pain in the butt but doable.
